Update April 17th 2008

April 17th, 2008 · 7 Comments

The biggest change to London-Sydney 2008 is that it’s now London-Sydney 2009. We have decided to give ourselves more time to prepare for this huge logistical exercise by changing the departure date to the Northern Hemisphere’s longest day 22nd June 2009. Although we are still looking for a major sponsor we are now offering smaller part sponsorships called Gold, Silver and Bronze. We are also looking for contra deals on airfares, fuel and accomodation and are still working on the PWC provider. We will have two riders and 3 PWCs. One PWC will be a spare which will also be available for celebrity or sponsor riders. It has been suggested that we engage the services if possible of an A-List sports or acting star (probably a cancer survivor ) to help with publicity.

We expect to have a World wide press release in the next month formally announcing the event.

Feel free to register with the blog and make comments. The more activity we get the more the search engines kick in and that will help get the message out there which will assist our cause. Just register on the site and you will be emailed a password.

It takes a lot of strength to to what you intend to do , guys. I contemplate a trip like yours along the West Coast of the U.S. and I am trying to find out more out of your experience. But as my mind wanders and having a limited experience as a rider on a PWC and their performances but just enough technical knowledge to tell the difference between good and outstanding, I ask myself if you take the right approach. After all the water crafts that you are taking about are nothing more than stock vehicles. Your calling I believe is higher than demonstrate the superiority of one manufacturer over another which technically speaking is insignificant when you have in mind a different purpose than entertaining the kids around the wharf on a Sunday afternoon. These vehicles rest assured do not allow a lot of upgrades in terms of power or autonomy making just limited modifications to their standard equipment. At this time it is unclear to me as well, whether you plan on having all the trip legs on the the water or skip some portions in between do to feasibility issues.
But when I look toward the New Zealand’s experience on the water I see tremendous inspiration which I am sure will serve you as well. After all, bringing something of this magnitude to life is beyond a brand representation or corporate loyalty. Pushing the limits does not mean to limit yourselves with just what you find in the dealer showroom.

Yes we will modify stock standard machines but the engines and hull will be unchanged. When the PWC provider is decided on we will publish the full specs on the machines and the changes we will make.We will not skip any portions of the route. We aim to ride the whole way. Thanks for you support.

We hope to carry 200 liters of fuel which is good for about 500km in good conditions at fuel saving speed(Around 50kph)
