I’ve been asked many questions by different people about the ride e.g. won’t it be dangerous? so here are some answers to the most commonly asked questions.
Q. Won’t it be dangerous? A. At times there will be a certain element of danger. Every adventure has it. It’s what makes the whole thing exciting.
Q. What about pirates? A. There is a risk of this in certain areas. We will avoid known areas of pirate attacks. Pirate attacks tend to be opportunist and mainly occur against slow moving targets. Personal Watercraft would be difficult to catch given their speed. The greater risk is from corrupt officials on Navy boats around territorial boundaries. There is a cost to dealing with these people that will be considered as an expense that is unavoidable and we will be prepared for it.
Q. What about the weather? A. Definitely an issue. We will need excellent forecasting facilities and will need to be flexible day to day. We will always need to leave ourselves a way out. The Personal Watercraft will be equiped with lightning rods while travelling through tropical regions.
Q. What about sharks and crocs? A. We will need to keep this in mind at all times and not let our guard down in known areas of danger such as along the top of Australia.
Q. What about mechanical failures. A. Again this will be an issue but with carefull and regular maintenance and by treating the machines with respect we should keep on top of it. Many spares will be carried and we expect manufacturer support along the way. We will also carry a spare PWC.
Q. What about injuries? A. Always possible, especially at the end of a long hard day when there are lapses in concentration but we aim to be super fit and strong for the event so that will help. We will also be wearing the best safety and protective equipment available.
Q. Don’t you worry about getting lost? A. I never get lost because people are always telling me where to go. We will have GPS navigation systems and the positions of the PWCs will be available by satelite and updated on our website continuously. We will also carry Rescue 406 personal locator beacons.
Well…those are the most common questions. If you have any more don’t hesitate to ask.

Good on you guys, go for it. What brand of skis will you use this time?

The brand of skis is undecided at the moment. We have had an offer from Seadoo which we sincerely appreciate but due to other committments they are unable to provide the level of ongoing support which we feel would be required for success. I am a Seadoo fan but Yamaha and Kawasaki both have good models which would meet our requirements.

Hi Robert. That was the nicest gesture and the best tasting chicken. What worries me is where we can get that on the next ride without catching something.
